Tired of playing the same thing over and over? Do you feel like you are not growing? Every musician at some point will or has experienced this. One way to get out of a rut is to learn a new song. Challenge yourself to learn every lick and chord voicing of the song. Learn the theory of the song. If you play by ear, consider learning theory and chart the song out. If you are used to reading chord charts or standard notation, challenge yourself and learn the song by ear. In addition, go a step further and try a new genre of music. Getting out of a rut generally requires you doing something different and unpredictable.
